By car: if you arrrive to Lucca by car, coming
from Florence or from Pisa north- Freeway A11( BLU LINE),or
if you come from Viareggio - Freeway A12,(RED LINE), you should
drive along the walls (ORANGE LINE) and enter town from Porta
Santa Maria.
Coming from the " Bretella A11-A12"
Viareggio/Lucca, take the exit marked Lucca. After the toll
booth, follow the signs indicating the center of the city,
pass over the bridge and then take your first right onto Viale
Luporini. Follow Viale Luporini for about 1.5km and you will
reach Piazzale Italia (easily recognizable by the monumental
fountain in the center). Go straight on, then turn to the
left and follow the signs indicating "Abetone".
If well done, now you will see the old city walls of Lucca
on your right; you are on the road Viale Giosuè Carducci,
go on, alwasy keeping the walls on your right until
to "Porta S.Maria" where you have to enter the walls.
There are many free parking places outside the walls,
where you can leave your car.
Otherwise if you come from Firenze Mare (A11), take the
exit marked Lucca. After the toll booth, turn left and follow
signs indicating the center of the city. You will encounter
a bridge over the rail, pass it, and keep the old city walls
always on your right, then follow as above.
By train: if you arrive to Lucca by train, you can
reach us easily walking for only 15 minutes. Leaving the Railway
station square go to the left, on the large avenue "Viale
Regina Margherita", around the Walls.
Follow it for about 200 mts., then enter the town inside the
Porta S.Pietro; then through via Carrara and via S.Girolamo
go to Piazza Napoleone. When there, keep via Beccheria, then
turn right to via Roma, and after 80 meters on your left,
in via Fillungo. Then you need to go straight on, and
at the end of the street, you will find the "Alla Dolce
vita"
By plane: the nearest airport is the
one located at Pisa, only 20 km distant. From there you can
reach Lucca in half an hour, by train or car.
